UV Purification — Disinfection Without Chemicals

Ultraviolet (UV) water purification uses Ultraviolet light to inactivate bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms. It doesn’t add chemicals to your water and doesn’t change its taste.

When UV is worth adding:

  • For well water or water sources with higher biological risk

  • As an added safeguard after other filtration. UV can be paired with whole-home water filtration systems for comprehensive treatment

  • When chemical-free disinfection is preferred

Key points:

  • Inactivates microorganisms by disrupting their DNA

  • Works instantly as water passes the UV lamp

  • Requires annual lamp replacement for consistent performance

  • Does not change the taste, odor, or pH of water

Alkaline Remineralization — Restoring Minerals and Balance

Some filtration methods, especially reverse osmosis, remove most dissolved solids — including beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium. An alkaline remineralizer reintroduces these minerals and raises the pH slightly, improving taste and reducing acidity.

When remineralization is worth adding:

  • After reverse osmosis filtration. Learn more about our reverse osmosis drinking water systems and how remineralization can complement them.

  • If water tastes “flat” after treatment

  • For better-tasting water for coffee, tea, and cooking

Key points:

  • Adds back calcium and magnesium

  • Raises pH for a smoother taste

  • Does not remove contaminants — it’s a finishing stage

  • Media needs periodic replacement for consistent results

Why Add These Stages?

UV and alkaline remineralization aren’t required for every system — but they can be valuable finishing touches.

  • UV provides an extra layer of protection against microorganisms

  • Alkaline remineralization improves taste and mineral content for drinking

If you’d like to discuss whether these upgrades make sense for your home’s water, we can size and install them so they integrate cleanly with your existing setup.  It’s all part of why we started Water Fixers of DFW — to provide tailored solutions, not cookie-cutter systems.

Whether you already have water softeners for hard water problems or other filtration systems, these upgrades can be added to enhance performance. We offer UV water purification in Forney and across the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
